I first got involved with UNIX in the late eighties, initially on XENIX and then early versions of SunOS running on SPARC 1's. At the time I was working in the Oil industry doing realtime drilling data aquisition at the rigsite. Later I worked on a project supporting an application based on Sybase, where I was doing everything from application support to database administration.
I'm currently learning Java and JDBC programming. I have worked in many parts of the world from Siberia to Gabon and Colombia to Oman. Although for the last few years I have been based in London working in the Banking sector.
My key strengths I believe are my UNIX background that complements my Sybase skills and my problem solving capabilities, I have worked in teams and on my own and believe I perform well in both environments. I enjoy task driven work and have worked to tight deadlines.
I also provide some Sybase information on this website, this is not meant to be a definitive resource, but to help out new users over some connectivity problems. This information is offered to complement two applets I have written for converting IP/Port numbers to TLI strings and vice versa, see ip2tli and tli2ip. Again these are offered as is, if your company wants these programs contact me for details.
